UCSB's Photonics Society awarded Most Innovative Chapter of 2017!

The UCSB Student Chapter was given the 2017 Most Innovative Chapter of the Year award by the IEEE Photonics Society! We were the first student chapter to win the award, which had previously been awarded to professional and joint chapters

About Us

We are the UCSB Photonics Society, a joint chapter of the IEEE Photonics Society (IPS), Optica (formally OSA), and of SPIE. We host periodic guest seminars in recent photonics research, hold photonics-themed banquets and workshops, and organize outreach to the surrounding community in photonics education.

The IEEE Photonics society awarded us the Chapter of the Year in 2016, as well as Most Innovative Chapter in 2017.
